What is it like to move to Dubai?

Posted on 12th November 201821st November 2018 by admin

Moving to Dubai might seem like an obvious place to start within a company, but you’ll have to ensure that your CV is up to date and complete a series of interviews, because it is not as easy as you might think. Working abroad doesn’t really feel like looking back, if you have lived most of your adult life on the roads. Before applying for a job, make sure that you really want to relocate and you have all of your college documents attested for visa processing, as well as enough money until your first pay-check.

It may be in your interests to declare yourself non-resident, but get advice first, as it may impact pension arrangements. When you make the move you need to know what is required for working here, and one of the first things you should know is that everything they is true, luxury is all around you. Weekends are Friday and Saturday, although weekends in a lot of countries take place on Saturday and Sunday, because Friday is a holy day in Islam and if it normally takes a little getting used to, soon you will learn to thank God it’s Thursday.

When you purchase something online they do not have an address line, so you’ll need to draw a map of the street after the airport road, and where to go past the mosque. Eating and drinking can be quite expensive at the fancy restaurants. There is no standard address system, making anything nearly impossible, so if you’re here for only two days, you will have no clue where your house is. Summers are hot, infamous for their stifling temperatures which can soar up to 48 degrees Celsius, certainly intimidating, but you’ll have to work around these temperatures. The air conditioning is cold in the peak summer months, but in the middle of December the glorious weather makes up for the hot summers, as you’re not freezing like the rest of your family.

Living in Dubai is not as wonderful as many would have you believe, and if you’ve seen, those shiny buildings, you should know that it is all just smoke, as there are many things wrong with this place, if you are considering a potential move here. Moving to Dubai can be stressful, so in order to have an easier transition some preparation is essential, although you might have to live through most of the highs and lows. Living in the Middle East may provide many opportunities of visiting places, and a lot of people wonder what it’s like, especially here where women are seemingly oppressed, so we would like to shed some light.

If you have never been to the Middle East you might expected a considerable culture shock, but the Emirate of Dubai is extremely westernized and everybody speaks fluent English. A lot of people talk about alcohol, but rest assured that you can drink to your heart’s content in Dubai (although it’s not the same for other Emirates or other countries in the region, which are more conservative).
